2019 is coming to a close, but before it goes, it asks us: What will we leave behind?
This month’s astrology is groundbreaking. After our last Full Moon — both of this year and the decade — this New Moon and Eclipse have a lot to live up to. And believe me, they will not fall short.
Both events will occur in the sign Capricorn, on December 26. The New Moon will peak at approximately 12:12 AM, with the peak of the eclipse following shortly after, at around 12:17 AM (EST). Needless to say, the energy will be electric.
This month’s New Moon will occur in the astrological sign Capricorn, on December 26, at approximately 12:12 AM (EST). The tables are turning, but this time, they are turning in your favor.
Will you seize the opportunity?
With our current astrology, the narratives we follow are of great importance. Ask yourself: To what accord do I interact with the world? Are you a peacekeeper, a caregiver, or a naturally passive being? Perhaps your interaction is much more complex. Take the time you need to describe it in its fully glory. From there, examine the roles you have inherited from others. How has your identity been shaped by your environment?
Our New Moon’s partner, Capricorn, is an Earth sign. They are prepared, diligent, and of steady mind. As patronage to this, they are deeply involved in the construction (and deconstruction) of social order. They remind us that our roots matter. The identity we create — or rather, grow into — is curated by our past experiences. And, as we know, experience does not discriminate; negatives and positives are a fact of life. This can help us become adaptive and creative beings, but it can also hinder us. The place you grew may not be the place you can continuously grow.
Know when to leave.
Face this part of your identity. Reclaim it. Learn both its methods, and its madness. How does it help you? How does it harm you? Though this healing may seem intangible, this is your self: a part of you that has endured and persisted. With this New Moon, the release of the old and the withheld is more achievable than ever. Your understanding of this identity is the key to unraveling it, and harmonizing with it. From there, we can continue to grow and move forward.
Listen to the inner callings you feel. Whether it be to slow down, rest, or even keep going, this is your self breaking through. Seek it out, and hear it for what it is truly saying. If our identities can be formed through negative experiences, they can most certainly be rewritten with positive ones. There is a bright-side to everything, and this one requires us to take the lead. Welcome this possibility of renewal and leadership into your life. Take the responsibility, not for others, but for yourself.
It is yours to own.
The first eclipse of the season will be a Solar Eclipse, and will occur in the astrological sign Capricorn. This eclipse will formally begin on the night of December 25, when it will be in its formation stage. However, it will be in full effect, or at its peak, earlier in the following day (December 26). For this reason, the energy of the eclipse will be felt very strongly on both days. Prepare for a deep shift!
Complete Eclipse Timeline:
- Beginning: December 25 at approximately 10:34 PM
- Peak: December 26 at approximately 12:17 AM
- Ending: December 26 at approximately 3:05 AM
All times listed in EST.
The nature of a Solar Eclipse is similar to that of a dramatic unfolding. During a Solar Eclipse, the Moon is positioned between the Earth and the Sun. This casts a shadow over the Earth, and blocks some (or all) sunlight. Think of this as a physical manifestation of your inner-shadows. Put simply, it is time to face what you have been hiding. The offerings of an eclipse are blunt, and very no nonsense. This is take it, or leave it time.
The Moon has cast its shadow so that we may face the dark.
Capricorn is the perfect companion for this eclipse. Old narratives, such as guilt, fear, or shame are not their forté. They like to see the cycle of growth and prosperity continue, and remain unblocked. In their eyes, what opposes this must be challenged. The wheel of fortune must keep turning, no matter who — or what — needs to be overthrown. Where their ambition lies, their undoubtable motivation stands strong.
That being said, now is the perfect time to direct your energy towards your shadow self. These are the parts of yourself that are repressed, ignored, or feared. They have been in the dark for far too long. Take a long look at them. What is their true nature?
It is never what we think it is.
With all of this out on the table, this eclipse will be a showstopper. But it’s your job to keep the show alive. Despite popular belief, eclipse energy is mallulable, and can be used to your advantage. This eclipse’s energy, in particular, is very open for our reception. It may not something be something to harness or store, but you can work with it. This is a beast you can run along side of.
