Your guide to the Autumn Equinox, the turning point of the year!
Our Earth has many holidays of her own. Depending on the time of year or nature of the event, the holiday will differ between being a solstice, or an equinox. Every year, we have two dueling solstices (one in June, and one in December), as well as two opposing equinoxes (March, September).
As stated before, this is our Autumn Equinox. This equinox occurs only once every year, and lasts one day.
This year’s Autumn Equinox will occur on September 23.

The Waning Crescent is a bold and receptive phase. It encompasses our willingness to put the best version of ourselves forward. This involves making those tough decisions. Remember, relationships aren’t like driving. It’s okay to cut people off! And this doesn’t stop at others, either. Your own behaviors, as well as the situations you put yourself in, are up for evaluation. And although our sign Cancer is eloquent, they are just as cunning. Make your needs known, before they spill out on their own.
Now, for our equinox practices.
To understand our practices, we will first go in-depth on the actual events of the equinox.
During an equinox, the sun moves across the celestial equator. It can either move North, or South. As this is our Autumnal Equinox, the sun moves south, to the Southern Hemisphere.
With this in mind, we can visualize the obvious shift that is occurring in our world. Within our hemisphere, the Northern Hemisphere, the Earth is beginning its slow dance to the dark, and the cold. This is not a lesser transition; it is just as grand and celebratory as the shift to warmth is. Our planet’s cycle is coming full circle, and we are preparing to become anew.
Our main goal as of right now is to be as present and affirmative as possible. All changes, big or small, require care. This shift is not only occurring in our Earth, but inside us, too. We may feel as if we are slowing down, becoming more sensitive, or even weaker, but we are not. In fact, we are anything but weak. We are entering our preservation state, where protecting our energy is a must. Trust your sensitivity, it is simply your intuition in a different form.
If you feel like you must withdrawal from a situation, do so. Cycle down. Return to your nest. And if you do not have a nest to return to, create one, and open it to others. It is natural to crave comfort right now, so do not fight it. Let the ones you love know that it is okay to let their guard down, too. Find ways to self-soothe, and surrender to your restful state. You have been moving for so long. Allow yourself to rest.
