Crystal Cleansing, Charging, and Programming

Regularly cleansing, charging, and programming your stone(s) will greatly improve your crystal practices, and the outcomes of them.

Here, we’ll learn what it means to cleanse, charge, and program a crystal.

Cleansing

Why should I cleanse my crystal?

Crystals naturally absorb energy from their environment(s), even if they are not used frequently or at all. So, a crystal that is used often holds a lot of old, and possibly negative energy. This can hinder its abilities.

How do I cleanse my crystal?

You can cleanse your crystal any of four ways:

  • Through visualization
  • Sun and/or moon light
  • With palo santo or sage
  • By holding your stone

You can combine any of the four ways listed.

Charging

Why should I charge my crystal?

By charging your stone, you are giving it the positive energy it needs to work best. Charging prepares it for its primary function, or intention. This, in combination with cleansing, makes your crystal all the more powerful.

How do I charge my crystal?

You can charge your crystal any of four ways:

  • Through visualization
  • Sun and/or moon light
  • Other crystals
  • By holding your stone

You can combine any of the four ways listed.

Programming

What is “programming”?

Programming, simply put, means setting an intention with your stone.

By setting an intention with a crystal, you are recognizing your primary use of it. You can change your intention at any time, and your intention may be anything you desire. Focus on what you need guidance and/or help with.

How do I program my crystal?

You can program your crystal any of three ways:

  • Through visualization
  • Holding your stone while thinking of your intention
  • Saying your intention aloud while holding your crystal

You can combine any of the three ways listed.
