The moon has a powerful affect on our world.
Our moon cycles through 8 phases over the course of approximately 27 Earth days. Each individual phase has a “personality” of its own, and in turn, they change the way we behave.
The phases are based off of how much of the moon is visible. For example, during a New Moon phase, no part of the moon is shown. However, during a Full Moon, you can see all of it.
In order, the phases are: New Moon, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous, Third Quarter, and Waning Crescent.
Understanding these phases, and what they bring, will aid in a better understanding of our natural world, and yourself.
Now, for the phases!
During a New Moon, it’s best to reflect on past decisions and try out new things. Think about how you could make some good changes in your life. What are some habits you’d like to break, and what are some you’d like to start?
Now is the time to start fresh. Think of the New Moon as the start of a new month. The cycle is beginning again, and you can too.
This is the moon’s first step towards becoming full again. Here, we are building off of what we planned for in the New Moon. This is a productive, plentiful time, although it may be difficult for you to get started. Wishing is simpler than doing, but eventually, you’re going to have to work for what you want. Start now.
The betterment that takes place during this time is solely up to what you are looking for. You must be open to hearing from all parts of yourself; this includes what you rather wouldn’t admit. Set your intentions clear and high, and they’ll lead the way.
Examine your past successes and failures for all they’re worth. Learn from them, but not for them. Allow opportunities (in life, career, and relationships) to come to you. There’s no need to ask.
From here on, your intuition will guide you. Find your path of least resistance, and follow it to its end.
This is an energetic, optimistic time. Here, you’re reaping the benefits (or consequences) of your past decisions. The energy you’ve outputted leading up to this time will now reflect back on you. Prepare for any and all things.
During a Waning Gibbous moon, you may be feeling excitable, or inspired. You may find yourself grasping at any opportunity to do something. Be careful not to burn yourself out. Remember to take time off, and keep your future wellbeing in mind.
Now is the time to fine-tune. Break out your inner critique, and think of ways to better yourself and your process. Transition from working hard to working smart. Change is coming, welcomed or not. You don’t have to make space for it, but you do have to accept it.
If you’re looking to let go, by all the means, do so now. Think back to our Waxing Gibbous phase. Re-examine your past and what you’ve learned from it. You don’t change just to be different than what you were before. You grow for the sake of a better self. Examine, release, and repeat.
